The Bayside Tigers were more influential than we thought…

As much as we all reference “Saved By the Bell” in our childhood reminiscence, I don’t know that we were ever acutely aware of the impact the show had on us. I mean, spandex shorts with t-shirts thrust to the side through brightly colored clips, high cut bathing suits, floral prints and of course the “Kelly Kapowski Dresses”, “Lisa Turtle Hats” and “Jessie Spano Vests”.

However, I’m not sure us girls realized just how smoking that girl next door Kelly really was while wanting to emulate her style. It was just…normal. This however, was not:

I would like to acknowledge that other popular shows of the time exhibited similar fashion influence in the years to follow, “Step by Step”, “Family Matters” and of course our beloved “Full House.”
