Back in the 90’s, it seemed like most of the popular sitcoms were filmed inside of a house, setting the stage for some of the most memorable TV scenes of all time. Whether it was a crazy character or a super cool part of the house, there was always something that made me want to be a part of the whole experience.
Below is my list of Top Ten TV houses of the 90s, and why I wanted to kick it there!

Where: Mr. Cooper’s
Why: There wasn’t one room in particular that stood out to me, but you could always count on Mark getting himself into some kind of pickle, usually with his female roomies.

Where: Clarissa’s bedroom
Why: Who else’s parents would allow their daughter to have a pet baby alligator or a permanent window-ladder entry for platonic boyfriend Sam in her bedroom? These reasons obviously made for one of the coolest TV bedrooms ever. Jealous.

Where: The Matthew’s backyard
Why: Not only did they have a sweet treehouse, where Shawn temporarily took residence, but so many life lessons were shared between Cory and Mr. Feeny along the white picket fence. I often wonder where I’d be now had my principal also been my grade school teacher and neighbor.

Where: The Winslow’s living room
Why: Property damage was humorous. From windows to furniture, nearly everything got broken in the house at one point in time by Steve Urkel. Carl always fumed/threatened afterward, but never followed through with any punishment. No consequences?! My dream come true.

Where: The Bundy’s living room
Why: With absolutely no rules, this was the ultimate ‘anything goes’ household. There’s no question that it would’ve landed on my parents no-way-in-hell-are-you-ever-allowed-to-go there list. Everything that went down in that house was inappropriate to the extreme and I yearned to be a fly on the wall for it.

Where: The Banks’ living room/staircase
Why: The looming possibility of Carlton breaking into dance. I was on the edge of my seat every episode, crossing my fingers until he would finally cut loose to Tom Jones. I would’ve camped out on the couch for days waiting for that hilarity to ensue.

Where: The Barone’s kitchen
Why: The guilt-tripping antics of one Marie Barone. Have you ever witnessed a friend getting chewed out by their mother or mother-in-law? It’s super amusing, which is why kickin’ it in the Barone’s kitchen would’ve always been a guaranteed good time.

Where: Cody’s Van
Why: The wacky dude who lived in it. Nothing was more entertaining than Cody’s Ty Pennington-like tweak outs/random bouts of wisdom. Even though as a young child I knew nothing about the effects of drugs, I still wanted to party with that lovable loser and watch TV from his homemade satellite dish.

Where: The Tanner’s kitchen
Why: Whether Kimmy Gibbler was bustin’ through the back door or Stephanie was crashing Uncle Jesse’s hot rod into the eating area, there was always something going down in the Tanner kitchen. While hanging around there, you could witness at least one “Have Mercy”, a Ranger Joe impersonation, cute baby Michelle dance, and a Danny Tanner-style cleaning frenzy.
Thanks to Tony D for pointing out that Uncle Jesse’s pink bunny stenciled bedroom deserves some recognition!

Where: The Taylor’s
Why: Tim the Tool Man Taylor’s huge garage, a faceless neighbor that’s always there to give advice, and a bedroom that would make even me consider rooming with my two brothers. If your name is Captain Obvious then you already know I was a victim of Randy Taylor’s spell. I miss that raspy, prepubescent voice. JTT forevaaaa.

Awesome list! “Step by Step” - loved that show. Mostly because of Stacy Keenan, though. Wow.
How about the Arnold household from “The Wonder Years”? Quite possibly one of the top 10 best shows ever.

Everybody Loves Raymond has a better ranking than The Fresh Prince and The Cosby Show didn’t make the list? I’m thoroughly disappointed. Although I guess The Cosby Show was mostly in the 80s. But still, Everybody Loves Raymond was the Dharma & Greg of the 90’s.

I could’ve sworn it was Joey’s car that Stephanie drove into the kitchen. I love this list!

Another good addition would be the Connor household from Rossane.

What about Buffy’s living room?
Melrose Place courtyard?
The kid’s bedroom in “Small Wonder”?
The Cosby’s living room?

I agree with whoever said the Hey Arnold! bedroom belongs there.
And I don’t think this technically counts, but the house from the Disney Channel Original Movie Smart House was absolutely awesome.
