I wasn’t allowed to eat any junk food growing up in the early 90’s…no chips, no chocolate, no cereal with an animated animal on the box — but that all changed once the bus dropped me off at school. Back in the day sugary treats were traded and popularity status hinged upon what you were snackin on.
It is my pleasure to countdown my top sugar-ific, tooth rotting candies of the 90’s:
Little rocks that popped in your mouth? Genius. Candy AND entertainment. You had to be careful not to drink coke while eating your pop rocks…because you would explode. The rumor at my school was someone fed a seagull pop rocks and coke and it blew up. Seriously?? I would love to see someone actually feed a seagull coke. (I’m pretty sure it’s impossible)
“It’s six feet of bubble gum for you, not them” 6 feet?? in that little pink circle? very high cool factor. Bubble tape was so cool in fact…I remember getting a zebra snap bracelet for a half empty container of it.
It’s dip…for kids! So wholesome. I do remember everyone saying they could fit the whole package of shredded gum in their mouth. many tried…and many failed.
This is crack for kids. Just straight up sugar…and you would pound it. Who swallows dry sugar?? 5 minutes later we were screaming and running…high on our pixie crack. The video below shows a boy who wasn’t strong enough to kick the habit. Sorry buddy.
This is the cousin of the Pixie Stick. But the bonuses were that it was handheld, you got three flavors in one packets…and let’s not forget about the dip stick. A big white solid hunk of sugar. Yessss.
Gum in a paint bucket? Sold! Anything that turned my mouth blue was fantastic. But usually you would eat every color and your mouth would be brown. no bueno.
