What was once part of the signature grunge look is making a stylish comeback. Plaid and flannel. Together or separately, you don’t have to pair it with ripped jeans or pretend to like coffee, poetry and hard alternative rock this time around to make it work. The new age of plaid is coming in all shapes, colors and styles. It’s for men and women alike. It’s country, it’s pop, it’s even high fashion these days!
While celebrities have been welcoming it back for some time, there’s some that never bothered to stop wearing in the first place. (Note: these people were not considered fashionable for the past 5-10 years unless sporting timeless Burberry Plaid.) Then there’s what I like to call the ‘dad’ plaid most commonly sold at any major department store or perhaps Eddie Bauer. It’s not flannel but more crisp and clean cut looking, like you’re packing a picnic basket and heading into the hills meadow for a family reunion and barbeque. Now the fashionable plaid is flannel, it’s cotton, it’s belted, it’s skirts, it’s dresses, it’s loose and billowy, it’s fitted, it has nice buttons, it can be worn with jeans or leggings, it’s even popping up in accessories. Whew! You get the idea: Plaid and flannel can be worn by just about anyone with anything it seems these days! (Again note there are always exceptions and with any fashion that borders on ugly and trendy, the wearer assumes the risk of looking simply horrid.)

Hey! Thanks for the link to my article. I am still loving this flannel fad. I hope it is here to stay - in all its many styles!
